Safe cruising

Cruising gives you the opportunity to enjoy endless miles of sandy and pristine beaches with spectacular scenery. There is nothing like spending a day with family and friends, swimming, diving, and enjoying water sports.

Infinity Rib Cruisestakes boat safety very seriously.  We believe it is our responsibility to make our customers feel comfortable and safe during their cruises.  So, all our boats comply with the local marine safety regulations, and thorough maintenance ensures excellent performance, from must-have safety gear to safe boat sail.

So, before renting a rib boat someplace else, take note of a few vital safety tips.

1. A boat safety kit is a must.

All rib boats must be fully-equipped with a boat safety kit and be well-prepared for an emergency or adverse weather. A boat safety kit includes:

A flashlight and extra batteries

A duct tape topatch any leak temporarily

A bucket, in case of water, gets in the boat somehow

A properly equipped first aid kitin case of an emergency

A whistle / a horn as a recognized signal calling for help on the water

Ropesto secure the boat to the dock or tie down loose items if the sea gets rough

A mirror to signal for help, maps, and flares

Plastic bags to use as wraps and protect items on board

A fire extinguisher

2. Life jackets are essential

All ‘Infinity Rib Boats’ are equipped with quality life jackets for every passenger onboard and are appropriate for your on-water activity. Children are required to wear life jackets at all times. Even good swimmers need life jackets!

3. Check the weather beforehand

Never leave the dock without checking the weather. Warm, sunny days are ideal for cruising, but be prepared for sudden gusts of winds, “meltmi”  choppy waters, or even a storm. When winds exceed 6B, it is advisable to redesign or reschedule your trip. If you notice sudden changes, dark skies, lightning, or choppy waters, head ashore as soon as possible.

4. Never overload the boat

The “Infinity” crew always follows the boat’s capacity restriction.  Do not accept more passengers or equipment as it can unbalance the boat.

5. Check for harmful fumes

After refueling the boat, check all the hatches and smell for harmful fumes before starting the engine. If you smell fumes, don’t start the engine.

6. Use common sense at sea

Rules at sea are much like rules on the road.  Stay alert at all times, and operate at a safe speed and distance.

Avoid drinking when driving a boat. Alcohol is more dangerous at sea than on land. The waves, vibration, engine noise, sun, and wind all increase the effects of alcohol and affect one’s coordination, judgment, and reaction time.

Put down the cell phone and stay focused on the water ahead and around you.

Always check the monitor gauges at the helm.

7.  Follow the proper anchoring procedure

Having an anchor might sound obvious, but having the correct one is vital for safety, and the chain must be long enough to reach the bottom.

8. Follow proper docking procedure

Depending on the wind and the current, docking can be a challenge.  When approaching the dock or shore, take all necessary steps to get ashore safely.

9.  Beware of your boat’s propellers

Let passengers know about the dangers of your propellers.

Watch children at all times while onboard.

Stay watchful of other boaters and swimmers, and keep a safe distance.

Know what to do if someone goes overboard.

10. Boat Insurance

Make sure boat insurance is provided and protects all passengers from the unexpected.

11. Before boarding check

Take a few vital precautions to keep your cruise safe and legal.

Before you leave, always file a float plan with someone you trust to notify rescue officials if you don’t return when expected.

Dress accordingly, and bring an extra set of clothes if you get wet.

Don’t forget the sunscreen and know the signs of heat illnesses.

Make sure your operator has a certificate or license.

Check that you have a full gas tank,  engine oil, transmission fluids, and a fully-charged battery. All electronic gear and components of your boat should work properly before leaving.

In addition to life jackets, your safety kit must include everything mentioned above.

Respect your limits and keep within your limits to avoid unpleasant circumstances.

Enjoy your water activities during daylight hours only!
